Guerlain Meteorites Powder for the Face

Guerlain_meteorites_2Although there are many cosmetic lines claiming their powders are "color correcting", in my opinion, none can rival Guerlain Meteorites.  This is a beauty staple that I simply cannot be without.  The multi-color pearls are a blend of light reflecting, luminizing, color correcting and enhancing powders.  You swirl the Meteorites brush around and around the pearls in the container that was inspired by Marie Antoinette's jewelry box and then apply to all areas of your face for the perfect finishing powder.  Now really, they probably would have had me at the Marie Antoinette's jewelry box legend, but this powder truly delivers unlike any other I've tried.

There are 3 colors/finishes to choose from:  Mythic (transparent finish), the original, which contains pink, green, mauve, white, gold and mother of pearl; beige, which contains soft beiges to even out skin tone and Pink Fresh, which is a blend of pinks and apricot for a healthy glow. The same formulation is also available in a beautiful compact, which I am sad to report, I do not own, but is on my wish list.  Guerlain Meteorites are available at better department stores, including Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Saks and online at Sephora.

Guerlain Forever Gold Radiant Powder

GuerlainGuerlain channels Hollywood glamour with this Limited-Edition Forever Gold Radiant Powder.  I love the bottle and atomizer; so old world!  Spritz the powder on your neck, shoulder, decollete -- even hair, to add a touch of shimmer.  I would think this would be just as pretty in the summer (over bronzer) as in the winter. If you haven't gotten your hands on this yet, you may be out of luck, but it's worth hunting for (check eBay!).  This was part of the the Guerlain Holiday 2007 Collection.

Seasonality of Fragrance

CocoAs the temperatures get cooler (or colder, in my case), not only do we adjust our makeup and wardrobe.  We intuitively reach for different fragrances, as well.  Suddenly the Marc Jacobs' Daisy we loved this summer just doesn't feel substantial enough.  In the summer, light florals or citrus scents dominate.  In the winter, the spices, Orientals or heavy florals tend to be more favored with our cashmere sweaters and candlelight dinners.  Some classic fragrances that I usually associate with winter are Coco (Chanel), Opium (Yves Saint Laurent) and Shalimar (Guerlain).  Have you changed your fragrance this season?  What fragrance are you wearing now?
