Get the Look: Rachel Weisz at The Lovely Bones Premiere

CHANEL Celebrity Makeup Artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua created a classic Hollywood look for Rachel Weisz for the premiere of The Lovely Bones on Monday, December 7, 2009.  Kara went for a red lip using  Rouge Allure Laque, which is a perfect choice for the Red Carpet, because the formula is densely pigmented and photographs well.  Kara also utilized the Murano Quadra Eye Shadow from the Fall Venice Makeup Collection.

"I was inspired by the colour of Rachel's dress which was calling out for a perfectly red lip! I chose the semi-matte CHANEL Rouge Allure Laque in Dragon. I love this shade because it is a very pigmented blue true red, perfect with Rachel's fair skin, and can be worn very sheer yet give vivid colour.

I wanted shimmery soft eyes to be tonal with the colour of the dress so a not to compete with the lips. CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Murano has the most beautiful greenish-grey shimmers that accent Rachel's dark hair and brown eyes. CHANEL Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Tweed Rose gives her a soft hint of colour in the apples of her cheeks. Finally, CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir-Black opens up her  eyes by lengthening and separating her already thick lashes without any clumps!"

Lauren Conrad at Kohl’s Launch Party: Get the Look, Enter the Contest!

At the launch party for her new fashion line last week, the mark spokesman rocked a feminine, yet edgy makeup look. Celebrity Makeup Artist Amy Nadine shares how to get Lauren's signature cat eye look:

“Lauren never strays from her signature winged-out cat eyes, so to add some instant drama, I complimented them with a black ‘smoky under-eye’.  Blending is key for this look and edges should be smeared to add depth.  I started by lining her eyes with mark Get in Line Waterproof Liquid Liner in Painted Black. 

Get the look: Kherington Payne at the Fame Premiere!

Kherington Payne sparkled at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie, Fame, on Thursday night.  Celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali worked her magic on Kherington, with a graphic, smokey eye, pretty golden skin and shimmery nude mouth.

To start, Vanessa prepped the skin with Lancôme's Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate.  This was followed by Lancôme's Effacernes in Light Bisque, Vanessa’s favorite formula, which was dabbed underneath the eyes.  Bobbi Brown’s Foundation Stick was applied on select areas with a small brush and blended with the fingers.  Lancôme's Blush Subtil in Sheer Amourose delivered a glowy look and was accented with Giorgio Armani Beauty's Fluid Sheer #2 on the cheek and brow bones. A dusting of Lancôme's Photôgenic Sheer Loose Powder, just on the T-zone.

For Kherington’s dramatic eyes, Vanessa layered Shu Uemura's Pressed Eye Shadow in ME Black #990 and ME Olive #471.

Lancôme's Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony defined and elongated the lash line, and was paired with Shu Uemura's Painting Liner in Black just at the lash line (on the top lid only) and on the inner rim of the eye. The finishing touch: a few generous coats of Lancôme's Ôscillation Mascara in Black. Finally, Lancôme's La Laque Fever Lipshine in Iridescent tied the entire look together.

I think it's a fantastic look that can be recreated at home.  I definitely plan to try it!

Get the Look: Christina Applegate at the Emmys!

Makeup Artist Joanna Schlip was inspired by Christina’s dramatic, sweeping gown when creating her makeup look for the 61st Primetime Emmy's.  The vintage glamour of Christina's navy dress by Basil Soda called for simple makeup that still made a statement. With her hair pulled back in a chic chignon, Joanna was able to play up Christina’s eyes with a sexy retro smolder, while keeping her skin fresh and lips softly pink. 

It seemed like the smokey eye/nude lip was everywhere on the red carpet last night.  Joanna shares her tips on how we can recreate this look at home:

• Skincare: To create a radiant glow, Joanna cleansed with Clarins Water Comfort One Step Cleanser. She then applied Clarins Multi-Active Day moisturizer, followed with Clarins Beauty Flash Balm for smooth, hydrated, radiant skin.

• Face: Since Christina has naturally beautiful skin, Joanna kept her face mostly bare with a light wash of Clarins True Radiance Foundation. She finished with a dusting of Clarins Loose Powder in Translucent.

Primetime Emmy Style with Stylist Phillip Bloch

I had the opportunity to interview Phillip Bloch, stylist to some of Hollywood's biggest stars, about what we might to see on tonight's Red Carpet at the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards. 

According to Phillip, he expects to see color in the form of hot pink, citrus green and lemon yellow dresses on the red carpet.  One way that we can incorporate that look into our own daily style would be to use pops of color as accents with our accessories.  Animal prints are another major trend right now and the way to wear them is in a belt, shoe or purse. 

Fitted silhouettes with flowing skirts are another trend and Phillip advises that celebrities will be wearing shapewear to hide lumps and bumps. He recommends Flexees Fat Free Dressing shapeware. 

Makeup for the Emmy's will be very natural looking and matte--similar to what I saw at Fashion Week for Spring 2010.  Phillip expects hair to be more natural, too and not about the elaborate up-dos we've seen in the past.

I'll be watching (and Twittering) the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards tonight on CBS to find out if Phillip is right!

Get the Hair and Makeup Look: Sienna Miller at G.I. Joe Premiere

Sienna Miller was a vision of golden Hollywood glamour last night at the LA premiere of G.I. Joe.  Makeup Artist Kate Lee for CHANEL stated "Sienna was really keen to embrace the spirit of old Hollywood for the premiere of GI Joe at the Chinese Theatre. The dress was a glamorous YSL silk chiffon encrusted with beads in a kind of neutral colour. "

The goal of Kate Lee for CHANEL and Adir Abergel for Frederic Fekkai was to create a hair and makeup look that would be classical but modern. It was Sienna's idea to go with a strong lip. The make up was kept very neutral, gently sculpting the cheek bones with a mixture of Soleil Tan de CHANEL and CHANEL Powder Blush in Tempting Beige. The eyes were clean and simple to bring the attention to the lip.

To achieve the look, CHANEL Éclat Lumière in Beige Rosé was applied all over the lid and then CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Sand was applied in the socket area.  Brows were lengthened and after multiple coats of Exceptionnel de CHANEL in Smoky-Noir, both individual and cut up strip lashes were added. The lips were a mixture of two CHANEL Rouge Allure shades, Fatale and Obscure, both launching this Fall.

In creating the hair, Adir Abergel for Frederic Fekkai wanted to create a modern day Veronica Lake look that had wonderful movement and softness with lots of shine and bounce.

Adir applied Fekkai Zero-Humidity Frizz Control from the roots to ends; next he applied Fekkai Bouffant only at the roots to add a little body.  He then blow-dried the hair with a round brush to create the perfect texture.

Once the hair was completely dry, he took a 1 1/4 curling iron and curled her hair, and then pinned it in place.  He did not curl the hair at the root, because he wanted the top of the hair to stay smooth, but wanted to give the rest of the hair body.

After curling, he then let the hair cool down for 10 min and took out the pins.  He brushed out the curls with a Fekkai Classic Brush for the perfect smoothness, softness, and bounce.To finish this look he applied Fekkai Nonchalant Cream to top of her head, to smooth away tiny flyways.  Finally, he added a little bit of Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray to lock in the style.

Get the Look: Angelina Jolie's Hair and Makeup at Cannes Film Festival!

Angelina Jolie looked stunning in a nude Versace gown as she walked the red carpet for the premiere of Brad Pitt’s new movie Inglourious Basterds at the Cannes Film Festival.  Although Angelina's look was incredibly glamorous, it's one that you can achieve at home.  Muted makeup on the face with the summer's must-have red lip. Hair that is natural looking, not overdone.

Celebrity makeup artist Mary Burton created the glamorous look for Angelina Jolie at the Cannes Film Festival.  To define Angelina’s lashes Mary used two different mascaras, Lancôme Hypnôse in Black and Lancôme Ôscillation in Black and applied a few coats of both to add volume and length. Mary used Lancôme Color Design Lipstick in Candy Apple to create her voluptuous red pout.  

For her hair, Celebrity hairstylist David Babaii created Angelina Jolie’s hairstyle for the 2009 Cannes Film Festival using a blow dryer and small round brush. The inspiration behind the look was "very 70's and very bohemian".
