Bobbi Brown Nautical Collection - Summer 2009

The new Bobbi Brown Nautical Collection is makeup for summer that is naturally beautiful and easy.  It's all about flushed cheeks, sheer-colored lips and clean, defined eyes.  I know during the heat and humidity, fussing with makeup is not something I want to do; it's all about simplicity. 

Bobbi's new Limited-Edition Sheer Color Cheek Tint gives cheeks a sheer tint of natural color.  The translucent formula is lightweight and blends easily into skin.  You just swivel up, apply to cheeks, blend and go! Sheer Color Cheek Tint is available in six shades.  My favorite?  The Sheer Pink; it's perfect for a tanned face.  $22.00

Sheer Color Lip Gloss is like taking a lip stain and a gloss and combining them.  Sheer Color Lip Gloss has a see-through finish and comes in four sheer shades.  My pick is the Marina Pink, which is shown on the model (above).   $20.00

Perfectly Defined Mascara also has a unique waterproof formula that dries quickly, stays on lashes without flaking or smudging and can be removed with warm water.  In my use, it really opens up the eyes.  I've found it to be a workable, buildable mascara that is my new favorite.  $24.00

MAC A Rose Romance Summer 09 Makeup Collection

MAC introduces A Rose Romance, a gorgeous limited-edition makeup collection for Summer 09.  This colour collection was inspired by roses, an enduring icon of love. The hues are soft, feminine and flirty with a modern feel.  While I always look forward to new MAC makeup collections, this one is by far my favorite of the last few releases.  Why?  The colors are so pretty. 

I've been previewing some of the products in the A Rose Romance Collection and I'm loving the Of Summer and Et Tu, Bouquet eyeshadows, the Summer Rose Beauty Powder and the Just a Pinch Gel Blush (don't let the color scare you...it's very natural looking!).

Trish McEvoy Liquid Face Color

If you're looking for a product that gives you a naturally flushed blush of color, Trish McEvoy Liquid Face Color needs to be on your must-have list.  This new makeup gives cheeks a soft glow, as if you just came in from a brisk walk.  You actually look as if your cheeks are backlit.  Do you need to ask if I love that?

The Trish McEvoy Liquid Face Color comes in a click-pen applicator with a brush at the bottom.  You twist the cap and the product dispenses through to the brush.  I've never been able to master the application of a cream blush; I just can't do it.  But this product is so easy to apply, it's goof-proof!

The way I've been applying the Trish McEvoy Liquid Face Color is to deposit some color onto the back of my hand, using a "stippling" technique.  Then, using the brush, I pick up and apply the color to my face.  I feel using this application technique gives me more control, resulting in the look I want with no mistakes. And if you're going to be traveling, this product is definitely travel-friendly.

The Trish McEvoy Liquid Face Color retails at $32 and is available where Trish McEvoy cosmetics are sold, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus and select Nordstrom, Parisian and specialty stores.  You can also find Trish McEvoy cosmetics at Bloomingdale's, Henri Bendel, Bergdorf Goodman in NYC and various online retailers including eLuxury.com and QVC.

Bobbi Brown Platinum Collection: A Necessary Indulgence for Spring 2009

 

Bobbi Brown Spring 2009 brings a new makeup collection and it's Platinum!  If you're looking for prom or wedding makeup, this would be a great collection to check out.

The Bobbi Brown Platinum Collection features the new limited-edition Platinum Pink Shimmer Brick ($40) which comes in a gorgeous metallic silver finish case and contains five bars of color that will beautifully highlight cheeks or anywhere you want to add shimmer. The shades included: soft pink, platinum, bright pink, golden coral and rose, can be blended together or used individually.

It's hard to believe, but the Platinum Pink Shimmer Brick is the first Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick I've tried!  I've always been afraid that the effect would be too glittery for me.  Not so at all!  The Platinum Pink Shimmer Brick is just that...a shimmer.  Perfect for highlighting cheeks or anywhere you want to add a little subtle radiance.

The rest of the Bobbi Brown Platinum Collection includes:

• Long-Wear Cream Eye Shadows in shades of Steel, Platinum, Ash and Heather ($22).  The Steel color has been my go-to shade lately.

• Shimmer Lip Gloss & Lip Gloss in shades of Glacier Shimmer Lip Gloss, Confetti Shimmer Lip Gloss (the perfect shade of bubble gum pink!) and Nougat Lip Gloss ($20)

• Shimmering Body Oil, which is infused with pink and platinum pearls to condition and moisturize skin, while imparting a radiant glow.  Lightly infused with "Bobbi's Party", which is a new scent that will debut for Holiday 2009. ($34)

To get the look pictured above, apply Steel Long-Wear Cream Shadow to upper and lower lashline, as well as crease.  Use Platinum Long-Wear Cream Shadow to highlight.  Brush cheeks with Platinum Pink Shimmer Brick.  Finish the look with Confetti Shimmer Lip Gloss.

The highlights of the First Blush collection include:

• Quick Blush:  This new blush combines portability plus great colour payout.  The brush is built into the cap, so you only need to twist and blush!  Available in four colors:  Hurry Honey, Peach In-A-Pinch, Minute Mocha and Berry On Time.  $ 21.50.  I've been using the Minute Mocha and love it; the color is subtle and wearable.

• Fresh Bloom Eye Shadow These new, limited-edition compacts are pressed into the same iconic design as the floral design found in the popular Fresh Bloom Allover Colour palette and contain two shades in each compact.  You can use each color alone or blended together.  Available in four fresh-as-spring shades:  Maple Blossom, Tiger Lily, Cherry Blossom and Apple Blossom.  I've been mixing the colors together for a pretty, luminous effect.  $ 16.50.

• High Impact Curling Mascara:  This mascara provides intense volume plus extreme curl for 24 hours of long-wearing, non-smudging, eye-opening drama. I love the curved brush, designed to elongate and curl lashes. While the effect is extreme, removal is not.  Just use warm water.  Now what's not to love about that?  $ 14.

• Long Last Glosswear SPF 15:  Providing long-lasting gloss and shine for up to 8 hours.  Available in new limited-edition shades of Honey Shimmer and First Blush.  $ 14.

Interestingly, none of these are makeup colors I would pick out for myself if I was choosing from a display unit, yet they all work together in the most complimentary way.  My favorite product in the Brunette collection is the Mineralize Skinfinish.  This gorgeous pearlized cheek color glides on and gives a wash of color; I've been applying it as a bronzer to warm up my complexion.  This will be an indispensable product, I can already tell. I also love the lippies; these colors will work year 'round.
