I was reading a recent survey in which a majority of women said that even in a bad economy, they weren't willing to give up (or "trade down") on purchasing the brands of cosmetics they normally buy. They said they would rather decrease the frequency in which they made purchases, rather than stop buying altogether or buy what they considered a lesser brand of makeup or skincare.

Sad Site: BeautyDepot.com
This site didn’t have a wide selection of products. You have to buy $99 worth of stuff to get free shipping; otherwise you could end up paying $7.95 or more for UPS ground. Cosmetics (and many other products) were not returnable, and there’s no toll-free customer-service number.
The bottom line is always to do your homework; buy from websites that you've done business with in the past, that have provided good customer service, that clearly post their policies. Based on my experience, I would consider Sephora.com tied for best overall site/selection.

You can also use a shopping community site to find great deals on makeup and accessories. One good site is www.shoppinggenius.org. They have a coupon section that list discounts for make up and an online mall to compare and buy products. I use them to save time finding deals
